w/ Dredge Research Collaborative

In June 2016, GWO participated in DredgeFest California, an intensive scenario planning workshop organized by the Dredge Research Collaborative at UC Berkeley.  This workshop focused on hydrological and sedimentary challenges of the Bay Area, examining bay dynamics as it faces impending sea level rise and sediment-linked events of the past, present, and future.  Groundworks Office studied the Novato Creek watershed and the impact of transportation-oriented development near the Hamilton Marsh.  Some design scenarios explored included a phased demolition of dam and levee infrastructure to increase supply of sediment to Hamilton Marsh, restoring and strengthening the freshwater marsh adjacent to the tidal marshland.
