Located in Oakland’s Uptown District, Cloud Park is a collaboration with the Oakland School for the Arts (OSA) and Girls Can Skate, transforming a vacant lot at 1911 Telegraph Avenue into a vibrant outdoor sports and community complex. The design integrates a soccer field, basketball court, and an innovative skatepark into a multifunctional urban landscape.
Unlike conventional concrete-dominated skateparks, Cloud skatepark incorporates a full spectrum of skate elements—spines, quarters, minis, a-frames, verts, pyramids, and more—within a dynamic landscape framework. This creates a safe, engaging environment that supports OSA’s physical education program while welcoming the broader community . Beyond athletics, the park includes sustainable rain gardens, native plantings, and flexible open spaces for outdoor classrooms, performances, and gatherings—enriching daily student life while revitalizing Uptown Oakland.
Building on this project as an anchor, we also assisted OSA in integrating the Dufwin Building into a cohesive streetscape design, proposing concepts for an Uptown Art Corridor.
