PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Groundworks Office is currently working with the Friends of Youngblood Coleman Park to secure needed funds to renovate the park in Bayview-Hunter’s Point. The clubhouse has become a city storage facility, the amphitheater sits empty, and safety concerns keep families away.  The proposed design enlivens the play areas adding color and graphics to brighten the park.  A graphic gateway will be added to the entrance of the existing hilltop slide, that memorialize the namesakes of the park who died on site in a tragic accident 30 years ago.  The existing swings will be refurbished, a new play-structure will be added at the lower level and the groundplane will receive a colorful play surfacing. The existing planting, which has suffered due to neglect, will be replaced with low water species that add seasonal color.
