Groundworks Office is a landscape architecture and urban design firm shaping public spaces to tell stories about our vibrant and complex world. We design parks, plazas, gardens, and waterfronts that celebrate the authentic character of a place and the people who live there.
For us, landscape architecture is a process, not a product. That process is driven by our intertwined values: innovation, communication, collaboration, and storytelling.
We begin every project by analyzing the site and researching its history to find the unique ecological and cultural stories that are specific to it. These stories connect us all. We use a variety of tools to help us communicate our discoveries with clients and community stakeholders as we refine the design and build support for the project. Strong community support means inclusive participation, which ultimately means everyone feels invested in the projectʼs success and becomes a part of a new story.
Groundworks Office was founded in 2013 to make places that restore and reveal the power and beauty of the natural environment, and cultivate an awareness of our connection to it.
Places that have a purpose and make cities safer and friendlier. Our collaborators range from small non-profit groups to developers overseeing hundreds of acres. We feel privileged to have built positive, lasting relationships with our collaborators and that many of the places we've built together have become important cultural touchstones where communities make memories.
